At dawn, around 4 to 5 AM, a 32-year-old Italian man parachuted from the spires of Milan Cathedral. The jump, captured in a brief video later circulated on social media, shows the man dropping along the facade of the cathedral and landing in Piazza Duomo, still largely deserted. The parachute displayed the colors of the Palestinian flag: green, white, and red on a black background.

After landing, the man quickly gathered the parachute and attempted to move away toward the Museum of the Twentieth Century, under the arcades of Piazza Diaz. A police patrol car intercepted and stopped him, identifying him.

The 32-year-old's case is now under review by investigators, who are conducting checks to reconstruct how the man managed to reach the spires and carry out the jump. The episode may result in a formal complaint.

Footage from the video surveillance system installed on the cathedral's spires may contribute to reconstructing the events. The Security Manager of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, Guido Nuovo, is cooperating with the investigation.

This is not the first such episode: in 2013, base jumper Maurizio Di Palma parachuted from the spires of Milan Cathedral. The cathedral's roof has been equipped since July 2024 with a night surveillance system featuring cameras with anti-intrusion artificial intelligence and thermal sensors, as well as a private security patrol, established after previous climbs documented on social media.
