Fratelli d'Italia responded through its organization manager Giovanni Donzelli, who called the attacks crude and spoke of political exploitation in a sacred place like via D'Amelio. Donzelli defended the work of the Parliamentary Antimafia Commission led by Chiara Colosimo, in turn accusing opponents of wanting to hide the truth about the Mafia-Appalti dossier, a Carabinieri document at the center of controversy and hypothesized by some as a possible cause of the attack on Borsellino. Donzelli also referenced the management of prisoner releases during the pandemic, attributing to Conte the responsibility for the release of certain crime bosses under the pretext of Covid.
