The Pirelli Calendar 2027, also known as "The Cal," is set in India, with shoots taking place in Rajasthan. The project bears the signatures of two photographers: Norwegian Sølve Sundsbø, previously the author of the Pirelli Calendar 2026, and Avani Rai, daughter of Indian photographer Raghu Rai.

Raghu Rai, who passed away in April, had conceived this project and entrusted its realization to his daughter Avani, who is also one of the subjects portrayed in the photographs. The choice of the two photographers marks a passing of the baton between generations and cultures.

The 2027 edition tells the story of India through the faces of nine successful Indian women, in a visual journey spanning metropolises, villages, and new generations, exploring the complexity of the country through memory, change, and identity. The colors, contrasts, and vastness of the territory are central to the visual narrative.

The backstage photographs were taken by Alessandro Scotti. The calendar continues the Pirelli Calendar tradition of combining art photography with cultural storytelling.
