CGIL has filed a complaint with the Court of Auditors requesting an assessment of potential financial damage to the public treasury in connection with the Bridge over the Strait of Messina project. According to the union, every euro spent on the bridge would be a euro diverted from essential public services such as hospitals and schools, which the southern regions particularly need. CGIL representative Ciucci stated that the initiative is driven by maximum respect for the rules and the protection of public funds. The complaint aims to prompt the Court of Auditors to verify whether the resources allocated to the infrastructure project may constitute a waste of public money.
