Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured pole position for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the first Italian driver to achieve this feat at the British GP since Alberto Ascari in 1953. The Mercedes driver qualified ahead of the two Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. In the Sprint race held on Saturday, Antonelli took his first career Sprint victory. At the start, the two Ferraris of Leclerc and Hamilton overtook poleman Antonelli, who dropped to third. The Italian later retook the lead in the middle phase of the race, building an advantage of approximately 15 seconds over Leclerc, who had already made his pit stop. However, from lap 42 Antonelli encountered technical problems, reportedly related to the suspension, and was forced to return to the pits. He ultimately finished 16th after also receiving a penalty, according to some reports. Hamilton received a five-second penalty for a jump start, according to the same sources.
