Francesco Forzieri, a 33-year-old Italian waiter, was found lifeless on Monday, July 20, in Ibiza, on his birthday. His body was discovered in the water, near a port pier, in the Marina Botafoc area, not far from the restaurant where he had been working for the summer season.

Local authorities launched an investigation to determine the cause of death. An autopsy was performed on the body, and the results are still pending. The Italian Consulate General in Barcelona, which has jurisdiction over Ibiza, is following the case.

According to family members, the news was communicated when a friend of Francesco tried to reach him via video call to wish him happy birthday and local law enforcement answered the phone. The victim's brother, Antonio, traveled to the Spanish island to meet with consulate representatives.

Originally from Lucera, in the province of Foggia, and residing in San Benedetto del Tronto, in the province of Ascoli Piceno, Francesco Forzieri had moved to Ibiza in May to work as a waiter after previous experiences in various European countries. He also had a passion for hip hop music and was part of a music group under the stage name Jdf.

While awaiting clarity on the causes of death, the family launched an online fundraising campaign to cover the costs of repatriating the body and related procedures. The autopsy results may help determine the circumstances of the death.
