According to information reported by multiple sources, the aircraft's conversion would have cost approximately one billion dollars. The jet, described as highly luxurious, reportedly lacks modern anti-missile defense systems.

The New York Times has described the move as an unprecedented escalation against press freedom.

The case has also been the subject of a cartoon by Ellekappa, an Italian political cartoonist, as reported by the newspaper la Repubblica.

Separately, the US Special Representative for Global Partnerships, Mark Zampolli, according to Il Giornale, has filed a five-million-dollar lawsuit against the Italian investigative program Report, claiming that the attacks against him and Trump are of a political nature.
