A strike by food delivery riders in Florence has been called for July 15. The protest concerns wages considered increasingly low and working conditions worsened by recent heatwaves.

According to Il Sole 24 Ore, the strike was decided during an assembly promoted by the Nidil Cgil Florence union, and involves riders from platforms such as Glovo and Deliveroo. The workers report that compensation has been progressively decreasing.

The ANSA agency reports that among the protesters' demands is the definitive abandonment of the piece-rate pay model, seen as inadequate to ensure fair earnings.

The mobilization comes amid a broader national debate on the regulation of gig economy work and platform labor conditions.
