The 2026 Wimbledon tournament records a positive balance for Italian tennis. Jannik Sinner, world number one, qualified for the men's singles semifinal by beating Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff in three sets with a score of 7-5, 7-6, 6-3. In the second set Sinner saved a set point against his opponent. Struff, 36 years old and ranked 74th in the ATP, had reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the second time in his career after the 2018 edition. In the three previous meetings, all played in 2024 on different surfaces, Sinner had always won. In the semifinal the Italian will face the winner of the match between Novak Djokovic and Felix Auger-Aliassime. Sinner stated after the match that Struff is a difficult player to face but a great person off the court, that he struggled at the beginning before getting into the match better, and that he worked hard after Paris to understand what had gone wrong. Sinner's path in the tournament had seen two hard-fought victories in the early rounds, against Kecmanovic in five sets and against Borges in three, followed by more comfortable wins against Brooksby and Mochizuki.

Flavio Cobolli, a Roman player born in 2002, ranked 10th in the ATP and seeded ninth, reached the men's singles quarterfinals by defeating Australia's Alex De Minaur, ranked 6th and fifth seed, in three sets with a score of 7-5, 7-6(4), 6-3 in two hours and 34 minutes. This is Cobolli's second consecutive Wimbledon quarterfinal, and this season he also reached his first career Grand Slam final at Roland Garros, later lost to Alexander Zverev. In the next round Cobolli will face Britain's Arthur Fery, who in turn eliminated Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov. After the match Cobolli said he felt tired but happy to have won in three sets to conserve energy, that he was proud of himself, and that he has great respect for De Minaur, though he does not enjoy playing against him. The Roman player also joked with the crowd, asking if anyone had a house to lend him in London.

Jasmine Paolini, from Tuscany, ranked 17th in the WTA and thirteenth seed, reached the women's singles quarterfinals by defeating the Philippines' Alexandra Eala, ranked 32nd, in three sets with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Eala had previously eliminated Poland's Iga Swiatek, world number three. For Paolini this is the second Wimbledon quarterfinal after the one in 2024, the year in which she also reached the tournament final, later lost to Barbora Krejcikova. In the next round the Italian player will face Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk, thirteenth seed. Roger Federer was present in the stands watching the match. Paolini said that returning to play the Wimbledon quarterfinals is a great feeling, that she told herself to stay focused and not think about Federer, her idol, being in the audience. She also admitted that the year has been hard with difficult moments, but that she feels better match after match thanks to her team's work, and that she is finally on the right track. Recalling the 6-0 set lost in her tournament debut, Paolini explained that she had played very little in the preceding weeks and stayed in the match game after game, helped also by her serve.
