The Authorization Committee of the Chamber of Deputies issued a negative opinion on the request by Rome prosecutors to acquire the chat messages between Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro and the business partners of Bisteccheria d'Italia, a commercial venue located on Via Tuscolana. The prosecutors intended to create a forensic copy of the communications in order to verify the possible involvement of the Senese family in the commercial activity. The final decision on the request nonetheless rests with the full Chamber.

Following the committee's negative opinion, senators from the Five Star Movement occupied the government benches in the Senate in protest, displaying signs reading «Fuori le chat» (Out with the chats). The presiding chair Mariolina Castellone consequently suspended the session.

M5S group leader Pirondini stated that «the government is helping the mafia,» while Giuseppe Conte claimed the government was «shielding» Delmastro. These assessments reflect the position of the Five Star Movement and have not been endorsed by the parliamentary majority.
