Starting Thursday, mandatory third-party liability insurance for electric scooters comes into force, adding to the already required identification tag. According to available estimates, the insurance policy costs between 35 and 55 euros.

Non-compliance may result in fines of up to 400 euros. The consumer association Assoutenti stated that, to be legally valid, the insurance policy must include the vehicle's identification tag code, which effectively excludes generic family policies. The association also raised concerns about the limited enforcement capacity regarding compliance with the new regulation.
