A large fire in the city of Drammen, about 40 kilometers from Oslo, has destroyed more than 100 buildings. According to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK, firefighters have not yet managed to bring the flames under control. The fire spread rapidly to terraced houses and surrounding land, driven by strong winds. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated. In the early stages of the emergency, several explosions were heard in the area. No casualties have been reported among residents. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and some people are under medical observation. Six helicopters have been deployed to assist firefighting operations. The broader wildfire emergency is also affecting other areas of Europe and North Africa, including Spain and Morocco, with fires fueled by high temperatures and strong winds. Near Zaragoza, in the Aragon region, a fire has burned over 12,000 hectares, with local authorities warning of a very high risk of further spread. In Morocco, several active fires are affecting the provinces of Taroudant, Tata and Béni Mellal, where two Canadair aircraft are operating alongside ground teams and volunteers. No casualties have been reported there, though several fire fronts remain active.
