The faces of Maria Callas, Leonardo da Vinci, and Ludwig van Beethoven appear among the finalist designs for the new euro banknotes, now in the final phase. The European Central Bank has put ten design proposals to public consultation, involving citizens in the selection of new banknotes that will replace the current ones, featuring generic bridges and architecture introduced when the euro was launched approximately twenty-five years ago. The ECB's final decision is expected by the end of the year.
