Aurora Tila, a 13-year-old girl, was killed in Piacenza on October 25, 2024, thrown from a balcony. At the appeal trial, the boy who had a brief relationship with her confessed to the murder. He was 15 years old at the time of the events and is currently detained at the juvenile prison of Catanzaro, from where he spoke via video link. He made spontaneous declarations, admitting to being responsible for the killing and apologizing for having waited so long to acknowledge it. The boy had already been sentenced to 17 years by the juvenile court of Bologna in the first-degree trial. The lawyer of Aurora's mother, Emilio Malaspina, commented that the confession came late and does not constitute a determining factor for a sentence reduction, expressing the hope that the Court of Appeal will confirm the first-degree sentence. The trial was adjourned to September 10, pending a report on the boy's behavior in the penitentiary facility, where he was reportedly reported for various offenses.
