Alessandro Medici, a former contestant on the 2020 edition of Canale 5's Temptation Island, has died at the age of 53. His former partner Sofia Calesso announced the news in a social media post accompanied by a black-and-white photograph and the message, "You will always live within me." Medici was known in the Castel del Piano area, near Perugia, where he ran his family's long-established butcher shop. According to initial reports, he died on the morning of Thursday, July 16, apparently after a sudden medical event. The precise cause has not been officially established. Some sources refer to a possible heart attack, but no detailed medical information has been released. Medici is survived by his mother, his brothers, his children Christian and Giulia, and his grandchildren Penelope, Enea, and Nicholas. His funeral is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, in Castel del Piano. Alessandro Medici and Sofia Calesso appeared together on the 2020 edition of Temptation Island after being in a relationship for approximately four and a half years. Both had children from previous relationships. Their relationship, described as turbulent and marked by separations, reconciliations, and mutual infidelity, was tested on the program. During the show, Medici requested an early bonfire confrontation after watching footage of his partner. The two confronted each other and exchanged accusations but ultimately left the program together, saying they felt "more united than before." The reconciliation was short-lived. About a month after the program, they returned separately for a follow-up appearance. They later reunited and discussed marriage, including a possible wedding date, but the ceremony never took place. The relationship ended permanently in September 2025, after more than ten years. In a subsequent interview, Calesso said the breakup was also connected to the painful loss of a pregnancy that, according to her account, she had been unable to come to terms with. Temptation Island host Filippo Bisciglia also paid tribute to Medici on social media, describing him as a good, polite, and kind man and saying that he would miss receiving his messages.
