The United States Central Command (Centcom) announced the completion of a third wave of attacks against Iran, carried out on July 11 and lasting approximately five hours. According to Centcom, the strikes targeted coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and naval capabilities in several locations including Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, Qeshm and Sirik, in Hormozgan province. The stated objective was to protect commercial traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, following Iranian attacks on merchant vessels in the area.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed to have struck US military assets in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait. According to Iranian state media, the targets included Prince Hassan airbase in Jordan, a US military drone command center in Bahrain, and Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait. Additional missile and drone attacks against Bahrain were also reported by the Revolutionary Guards.

Iran attacked two Emirati oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, killing one crew member and wounding eight others, according to the United Arab Emirates. The Revolutionary Guards stated that the ships had been deceived by the United States and had endangered energy security.

US President Donald Trump stated that the new conflict against Iran would be very quick and that all Iranian capabilities related to the Strait of Hormuz would be targeted. Trump said the Iranians had not passed the truce test and that an agreement with Tehran remained possible. He also announced his intention to impose a 20% toll on the strait and threatened to strike the Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site. According to the New York Times, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance consider the toll plan impractical.

Trump also stated that the Strait of Hormuz is open, a claim denied by Iran. The Iranian government said the US raids had nullified months of peace efforts. According to Trump, Gulf countries protected by the United States including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain should reimburse the US for protection costs.

At least a dozen US military aircraft were reportedly spotted flying off the coast of the UAE, over the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and Saudi Arabia. Explosions were reported in Bandar Abbas and on Kish Island. Oil prices rose following the escalation. Diplomatic contacts were reported in Oman in an attempt to restart negotiations.
