Alessandro Magnani, a 41-year-old resident of the Bassa Reggiana area, died one day after being struck by a bicycle ridden by singer and television presenter Paolo Belli. The incident occurred on Monday around noon in the countryside between Correggio and Campagnola Emilia, in the Bassa Reggiana.

According to what has been reported, Magnani was returning to his car after having notified documents on behalf of an electricity distribution company regarding temporary power disconnections for scheduled work in the area. He was struck by the bicycle while walking along the road and fell to the ground.

Emergency services were alerted immediately: an ambulance, a medical car, and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene. Magnani was transported by air ambulance to the Maggiore Hospital in Parma in very serious condition and was admitted to the intensive care unit. His death was confirmed the following day.

Belli, a 64-year-old resident of Carpi and a well-known cycling enthusiast, was riding in the Reggio Emilia countryside when the collision occurred. He suffered minor physical injuries and was taken to the Guastalla hospital for a check-up, primarily due to the stress caused by the incident. He repeatedly asked about the 41-year-old's condition.

The local police of the Unione Bassa Reggiana are investigating the causes of the death. No hypothesis has been excluded: the effects of a cranial trauma sustained in the fall are being considered, as well as a possible sudden illness that may have struck Magnani before or at the moment of the impact, which could have prevented him from noticing the cyclist's approach. The full dynamics of the incident remain to be determined.

The prosecutor's office is expected to open a case for vehicular manslaughter and likely order an autopsy on the body.

Magnani was known in the area as a volleyball coach in several local clubs.
