A 22-year-old woman fell from the third floor of a building at the Guardia di Finanza inspector school in Coppito, a district of L'Aquila. The incident occurred around 5 PM: the young woman, a first-year trainee marshal, fell from the window of her room from a height of at least 12 meters. The impact was violent and her condition appeared critical from the start.

Transported to the San Salvatore hospital in L'Aquila, the young woman underwent surgery for head and pelvis trauma and is currently hospitalized with reserved prognosis. Emergency services and law enforcement responded to the scene.

The dynamics of the incident remain unclear. Among the hypotheses being examined by investigators, the possibility of a voluntary act has not been excluded, though no conclusions have been reached at this time. The young woman had recently received the traditional delivery of the flames, the symbolic passage marking the status of trainee finance marshal, and was only a few days away from completing her annual training program.

The news caused deep emotion among the hundreds of trainees at the facility. According to reports, a farewell event for third-year trainees departing from the school, scheduled for next Monday, may be revised in light of the incident.

The facility, which in 2009 became the headquarters for post-earthquake operations in L'Aquila, has in the past been the subject of investigations into alleged sexual abuse by instructors against female trainees. In 2024, a captain and instructor was reported by a trainee for sexual assault, with three military personnel placed under investigation. In the spring of 2025, cases of alleged mistreatment and harassment of trainees also emerged, later dismissed as false by the internal unions Usif and Siaf, which accused those filing reports of fueling a media pillory. At present, no established connection between these past events and the current incident has been reported.
