A bomb attack occurred on the evening of Monday, June 29, 2026, in the entrance hall of a residential building in the Principality of Monaco. The device detonated shortly after three residents entered the building: Ukrainian-born oligarch Vadim Ermolaev, 58, a Cypriot citizen resident in Monaco since at least 2021; his partner Anna Nasobina; and the couple's 13-year-old son. All three were injured. The boy was admitted to the Lenval pediatric hospital in Nice, while the two adults were transferred to the Nice university hospital.

The Monaco prosecutor's office opened an investigation for attempted murder. The prosecutor, Stéphane Thibault, stated that the suspect did not act alone. The terrorism track was excluded.

The main suspect has been identified as Anastasia (Anastasiia) Berezovska, a 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen, reportedly known for links to organized crime according to French media citing investigators. She resided in the Frankfurt area, Germany, but was not found at her home address. Her residence in Germany was searched by authorities.

An Interpol Red Notice was issued to facilitate her arrest. The suspect was initially described as a man dressed in a black vest, light-colored trousers, sneakers, and a dark hat. Thanks to the testimony of a witness near the Ermolaev residence, investigators later determined the perpetrator was a woman capable of disguising herself as a man.

Surveillance cameras in Monaco captured the suspect multiple times in the days preceding the attack and on the morning of June 29, near the Ermolaev family's building. According to judicial sources cited by French media, she was observing the habits and movements of the family.

After placing the device, the suspect fled on foot toward France, crossing the border into Beausoleil, where there are no border controls with Monaco. There she retrieved a car rented in Germany with German license plates. Using that vehicle, she headed toward the Italian border, likely in the Menton area. According to French media, she may have reached Italy, possibly with the help of accomplices.

Vadim Ermolaev, a businessman originally from Dnipro, has been under sanctions in Ukraine since December 2023 for commercial activities in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia. Investigators have not ruled out a settling of accounts linked to organized crime or to the oligarch's business activities.

The case has drawn particular attention given that Monaco is a small, highly secure microstate of approximately 2 square kilometers and 40,000 residents, with a large international and affluent population.
