Investigations continue into the explosive device placed in front of the home of Report host Sigfrido Ranucci. Gimmi Cangiano, a deputy of Fratelli d'Italia, has announced that he has instructed his lawyers to file a complaint for calumny and defamation against the journalist. According to Cangiano, a telephone conversation between Ranucci and a Five Star Movement deputy would reveal that, even off-camera, Ranucci continued to attribute the bomb to Cangiano, a version the same M5S lawmaker would have excluded. The complaint aims to have the judiciary ascertain all responsibilities.

Meanwhile, investigators searched the home of Gomes Clesio Tavares, considered close to Valter Lavitola and believed to be the link with the group that allegedly planted the device outside Ranucci's residence. Tavares is reportedly currently in Cameroon, while his partner was questioned by the Carabinieri as a person informed about the facts.

According to what has emerged, the investigation also focuses on Lavitola, indicated by investigators as the alleged mastermind of the attack. Lavitola allegedly purchased a plane ticket to Africa, and the July 4 search was reportedly triggered after he was seen leaving his home with a trolley.
