Gildo Claps, brother of Elisa Claps who disappeared on September 12, 1993 in Potenza, announced during the final episode of "Chi l'ha visto?" hosted by journalist Federica Sciarelli that the Potenza Public Prosecutor's Office has reopened the investigation two years ago. The new investigation focuses on the recovery of the body and possible accomplices who may have assisted Danilo Restivo, already convicted of the girl's murder. Elisa's remains were found on March 17, 2010 in the attic of the Santissima Trinità church in Potenza, where the girl had disappeared. According to Gildo Claps, the new investigation includes technical examinations and analysis of statements released in the days following the discovery of the body. Danilo Restivo was sentenced to 30 years in Italy for Elisa Claps' murder. In 2002, he moved to Great Britain where he killed his neighbor Heather Barnett on November 12, 2002. He is currently detained in an English prison with a minimum sentence of 40 years; at the end of this sentence he will have to serve 30 years for Elisa's murder. According to statements made by Gildo Claps, several unclear points remain concerning the case, including how the body remained in the church for 17 years without anyone's knowledge. Gildo emphasized that while some crimes may be subject to statute of limitations, clarifying the reconstruction of events remains relevant. Elisa's mother, Filomena Iemma, participated in the episode expressing criticism of ecclesiastical authorities for their conduct during the search for her daughter and in the decades that followed.
