Tensions erupted during a rally held by Roberto Vannacci, leader of the Futuro Nazionale party, in Piazza Sacro Cuore in Pescara. The general was in Abruzzo to present two new party members, Valeria Toppetti and Cristian Orta, former members of the city administration led by mayor Carlo Masci.

Around a hundred protesters gathered to demonstrate against Vannacci, chanting Bella Ciao and antifascist slogans including fascists, go back to the sewers. Several banners were displayed, including one reading Futuro Nazionale, servants of capital and another reading Gramsci lives and fights with us.

Police officers in riot gear intervened to prevent physical contact between the two opposing groups. The rally concluded without incidents.

From the stage, Vannacci responded to the protesters by quoting Gabriele D'Annunzio: I don't care, I don't care, I don't care. At the end of his speech, he ironically thanked the demonstrators, saying: These gentlemen made the evening even more entertaining, they gave us this show, it feels like being at the zoo. MP Rossano Sasso, also addressing the protesters, called them red ticks.

During the rally, some Futuro Nazionale activists performed the Roman salute with raised arms, chanting in unison: Italy, nation, remigration. The raised-arm salute was also observed during the playing of the national anthem that opened the event.
