In the night between Friday and Saturday, shortly after midnight, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded in Molise. According to INGV data, the epicenter was located near Pizzone, a small municipality in the province of Isernia, at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers. The affected area lies at the border between Molise, Abruzzo and Lazio. The tremor was distinctly felt not only in Molise but also in the provinces of Chieti and L'Aquila in Abruzzo, in parts of Lazio, and as far as the province of Caserta in Campania. Several people left their homes to go out into the street. Initial assessments report no damage to people or property. At 3:41 AM, INGV recorded a second shock of magnitude 2.2, again in the Pizzone area, at a depth of 9 kilometers. Authorities continue to monitor the situation. The area is classified as having very high seismic hazard in INGV's national seismic hazard map, with a history of significant seismic events documented in the Parametric Catalogue of Italian Earthquakes.
