On July 19, 2026, the 34th anniversary of the Via D'Amelio bombing was commemorated. The Cosa Nostra attack on July 19, 1992 killed Judge Paolo Borsellino and five members of his police escort: Emanuela Loi, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Walter Eddie Cosina, and Claudio Traina. The attack took place two months after the Capaci bombing, which killed Judge Giovanni Falcone along with his wife Francesca Morvillo and his escort officers.

President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella delivered a message on the occasion of the anniversary, calling Borsellino and his escort "symbols of civil redemption." Mattarella recalled that the bombing represented the culmination of an eversive design aimed at bending the institutions, and stated that this design was defeated also thanks to the contribution of Borsellino and Falcone. "The Republic was stronger," the Head of State added.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described July 19 as a date that marked the history of the country, urging people to follow Borsellino's example. At 4:58 PM, the time the bombing occurred, a moment of silence was observed in Via D'Amelio.

A torchlight procession titled "Paolo lives" was held in Palermo in memory of the bombing. During the commemorations, several political and institutional figures reaffirmed the need to continue seeking the truth about the attack and to identify those who ordered it and any accomplices. Five Star Movement leader Giuseppe Conte described the fight against organized crime as a priority, stressing that further investigative inquiries could help uncover complicity that has not yet been established.
